How often should you update your resume?

A good rule of thumb is you should update your resume every time there is new substantial information. So, what is substantial? If you change jobs, update your resume. If you move, update your contact information on your resume and any other online source that offers or shares your information; such as LinkedIn. If you move to a new position or receive an award, you should update your resume….EVEN if you are not currently looking for a new job.
