If you haven’t written a resume in the past 3 years, resume writing has changed quite a lot. If you haven’t written a resume in the past 20 years, resume writing has changed immensely!
If you are a seasoned professional, I recommend using a professional profile versus an objective statement. Objective statements are very “old school” and should not be used unless you are an entry-level candidate.
Entry-level candidates need employers to give them a break and hire them because they need experience. However, experienced professionals need to communicate the value they offer employers so they stand out from the competition.
Your professional profile should be approximately 3 to 5 sentences in length and speak to the skills and value you bring to the table. You need to tell the hiring agent what it is that makes you the best candidate.
Feel free to ask questions about professioinal profiles or look at our samples at www.ChapmanServices.com/Samples.php.
Happy writing!
