There are words that detract from the overall effectiveness of your resume. You want to stay away from confusing language or vague phrases and clichés.
Unless you’re trying to communicate your ability to function as an integral part of a team, words like supported and contributed are not going to be very effective in a resume.
These words basically say you helped, but not how. If you use these words in your resume, follow them with a more comprehensive description of your role and include the challenges you faced, the actions you took and the results from those actions.
Use words like improved, influenced or established since they are action words that tend to be more specific and paint a concise picture of your accomplishments, skills and experience. Taking the necessary steps to create a powerful resume will eliminate stress and help you achieve the position you are looking for in less time.
