When creating your resume, the first thing should be your name. It should be bold and with a larger font than the remaining text. Make sure that your contact details are clearly listed and included and both your name and contact details should be included on all pages of your resume, especially if you have more than one page. Stay away from designs that offer colored backgrounds or cute little pictures because this is your resume, not an invitation to a party.
